Are You Set Up to Help Your Kids Learn From Home? | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant
If 2020 taught us anything, it is you never know what tomorrow brings! So, in learning from the lessons of 2020, it is important to know how you can best be prepared for tomorrow in 2021.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing, we never know when it may disrupt our daily routines. I want to help you prepare for one scenario—your kids learning from home again for a while.
When we started 2020, we never could have imagined schools would have closed. We were not prepared. However, that was 2020.
This is 2021. We are in a new year, and we have learned from the mistakes of 2020.
Therefore, when it comes to this school year, let’s get a backup plan in place in case the pandemic decides to bring students home:
Where Should Your Child Work?
We cannot learn as well in chaos. As a result, you want to set your child up in a designated space that is meant for him or her to learn.
Make sure the room is quiet and has everything your child might need during the day, including pens, pencils, paper, and possibly even a mini-fridge for water and snacks throughout the day to keep him or her fueled.
What Should the Schedule Be?
Even if class doesn’t start until later, or perhaps there is no set Zoom-call schedule for your student, a schedule is necessary to keep everyone on track during the day!
While it is important to give enough time to each subject, you also want to schedule breaks throughout the day so that your child can get up, walk around, grab lunch, make some crafts or incorporate a little exercise. This will help make the day move more smoothly, too, and help your child stay focused.
What Equipment Is Needed?
Technology is an important tool used in virtual learning. However, electronics can bring about distractions. Therefore, consider keeping the technology allowed in the designated school work space at home to a minimum. Allow your student to utilize a desktop or laptop, but perhaps have him or her leave the smartphone in a different room.
Finally, you want to make sure all the necessary programs are downloaded that are requested by the school/teacher so that your child is set up and ready to roll once the school day begins!
Wouldn’t it be easier to work from home when your child is learning from home? I have an opportunity for you! You can start your very own Pink Zebra business today—contact me to learn more.
