Cleaning Tips to Make Your Sheet Pans Look Like New | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant

We all have that one sheet pan—you know which one we mean. Maybe it was your first sheet pan that you loved too much when you first learned to cook, or an exciting splurge that has not held up as well as you hoped.

Regardless, you don’t have to push that pan to the back of the cabinet any longer! With these sheet pan cleaning tips, you can get rid of gunk, buildup and whatever else might be lurking on your favorite cooking utensil.

How to Clean a Well-Loved Baking Pan

Start with baking soda. Baking soda is really a multipurpose miracle solution when it comes to cleaning, and cleaning your sheet pan with this no-scrub method is no exception. Pour boiling water over your pan and add a few tablespoons of baking soda, allowing it to bubble up. Then, let it sit for an hour before wiping down the pan and finish the job with soap and water.

Try hydrogen peroxide next. If the baking soda did not cut it, hydrogen peroxide might do the trick—yes, the kind you keep in your medicine cabinet. Start with the baking soda method above, but add a layer of hydrogen peroxide over it and then sprinkle more baking soda on top. This mixture can sit on stubborn stains for up to two hours, but be aware that it can have a bleaching effect on your pan.

Make good use of your oven’s self-cleaning cycle. If neither of the above methods work, you may want to consider making use of your oven’s self-cleaning cycle and leaving your pans inside while it gets to work. Every oven is different, so check your manual for how to most effectively start the cleaning cycle and leave your baking sheets inside. After the cycle is completed, wash your pans again with soap and water to see if the buildup is removed—if not, it might be time to invest in some new pans!
