Do Something for You While the Kids Are in School! | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant

While motherhood is an amazing journey and one we are all proud to be a part of, let’s face it: Life as a mom is also hard. So much harder than most of us ever would have expected.

Therefore, it’s important that whether you’re a Pink Zebra consultant, a corporate executive or a stay-at-home mom you take a little time to do things just for yourself, especially once the kids are back in school!

Enjoy “You” Time

When was the last time you did something for yourself? Something that didn’t involve the kids or your spouse or even the family pet? And, no, PTO meetings don’t count as “you” time. If you can’t remember the last time, then it’s definitely time to do something for yourself.

First, call your girlfriends and tell them you are going out! It doesn’t have to be a night out on the town, even though that would be lovely. Seize an hour or two to catch up with girlfriends and/or enjoy the silence that a cup of coffee and the newspaper can bring.

Second, if you can’t get away while the kids are in school, call up a babysitter who can be there when the kids get out of school and feed them dinner while you get some moments of peace and quiet while getting a pedicure or a much-needed (and deserved might I say) massage.

Finally, do you have family or close friends nearby who are like family? Call them up and see if they are willing to take the kids for the night—and then do absolutely nothing! Or whatever you want to do. That’s the beauty of it. Enjoy every moment.
