Fall Is in the Air...and in Your Home | Sandi Parkey, Pink Zebra Independent Consultant

While many people might have already started decorating for fall, others might be waiting for the official fall start date of Sept. 22. Either way, fall decor has certainly been on the mind, as most of us are tired of the hot summer months and ready for the cooler temperatures to arrive. I know I am!

What plans you have for home decor this fall? Read on as I share some of my fall plans so that we can inspire one another!

Let It Be Fall

There are so many great things about the fall—football games, apple cider and pumpkin picking, to name a few. Fortunately, there are ways to add your favorite things about fall into your home decor.

Start with your entryway. As this is the first point of contact many of your guests have inside your home, you want it to be welcoming when it comes to fall home decor.

Consider the “theme” you want to go with this fall season. Do you see yourself sticking to more of an orange palette? Or do you want to continue adding that “farmhouse” charm into your hole decor this season? Either way, choose a fall theme and stick to it so that your design doesn’t get too cluttered.

Next, take down all the summer home decor and place all the current fall home decor items you have on a table so you can view everything you already have. What can go with the theme you have chosen?

Use this time to make a donation bin of fall decor items you will no longer be using, to make way for new elements you will be adding to the home decor this fall season.

Finally, make a home for everything you plan on using to decorate your home for fall. This will help you see what “holes” you have in each room, as well as what you might need to consider purchasing this season in order to give your home a complete look this fall.
