How Can You Start Getting Your Kids Ready to Go Back to School? | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant
While we might still be enjoying the summer months, there is one thing that is coming up close behind us, which is a brand-new school year.
But this year, you’re gonna avoid the stress! Start preparing now to ease the burden when the first day of school gets closer. A little advanced prep work can make all the difference.
Get Back Into a Routine
Making the transition back into the school year is all about getting your kids back on a schedule and in a routine.
First, you want to make sure you get your child back into a sleep routine. Chances are great that your kids have been sleeping in later and staying up even later during the summer.
That can make the start of a school year fairly traumatic on our sleep!
Start preparing your child for school hours at least two to three weeks in advance of the start of school. Slowly reset bedtime and wake time to get him or her back on a normal routine.
Second, you also want to make sure you start other back-to-school routines, such as eating a healthy breakfast, packing a nutritious lunch and having family dinners together whenever possible.
In addition, set up a homework room for your children so that they have a designated place to go to complete homework during the week that is quiet and has all the supplies they need.
Finally, you want to start limiting screen time during the day so that your children are more focused on other things. Your children don’t need to be stuck on their phone, especially when their focus is about to be on their education.
