It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like the Holidays... | Sandi Parkey, Pink Zebra Independent Consultant
It seems like we just got through talking about the holidays of 2020, and here we are already talking about preparing for the 2021 holiday season. Are you already feeling stressed thinking about it? There’s no need!
I am here to help you feel less stressed this holiday season by finding ways to prepare your home now.
Make It a November to Remember
What plans do you have for the month? Before you start cooking for Thanksgiving, tackle some of these items on your to-do list in order to make the holidays run a lot smoothly and less stressful this year:
Prepare the Kitchen
You want to make sure you get your kitchen ready for all the holiday cooking. From cleaning out your fridge and oven to organizing your pantry, having a clean and efficient kitchen can help you keep the chaos out of cooking this holiday season.
You also might want to go ahead and start planning the holiday meal. Don’t be afraid to ask for help by having everyone bring their favorite side dish to Thanksgiving so that the stress of cooking the entire meal doesn’t fall on your shoulders. By having other people bring side dishes, you can make the day easier on you, as well as give you time to spend with your guests rather than be stuck in the kitchen all day.
Tidy the Powder Room
You want to make sure your bathrooms are as clean as can be, too! While your kitchen is a high-traffic area of your home during the holidays, so is the restroom.
Tidy up your restrooms while also making sure they are fully stocked with the essentials, like toilet paper, hand soap, mouthwash, tissue and other needed toiletries.
Put Safety First
While disasters happen no matter how many precautions we take, it’s always better to do everything you can to keep your family and house safe. Take a thoughtful look around your house before a holiday gathering, making sure that there are no fire hazards present.
Make sure your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working by checking them regularly. And if you’re traveling this holiday season, make sure your appliances are turned off before you leave.
