Maintain a Work-Life Balance When You Work from Home | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant
When you work from home, maintaining a work-life balance is easy, right? Not necessarily. It can be difficult to know when work ends and family time begins.
Therefore, I want to give you some tips I learned working as a Pink Zebra consultant that have helped me find balance.
Achieve a Healthy Work-Life Balance
Let’s look at some ways you can make working from home as productive and efficient as possible so that you can enjoy your family and get your work done for the day!
Maintain Focus
You want to remember that you are only one person. Therefore, recognize your strengths and ask for help with your weaknesses.
For instance, would you rather work an extra hour than clean your house? Why not use your time to work more and let someone else handle the cleaning so that you can spend time with your loved ones rather than spending time cleaning your home?
What’s the Time?
We each have a time of day when we are most productive. Are you more productive in the morning? Or would you rather work at night?
You want to make sure you are creating a schedule for yourself throughout the day, working around when you are most productive. In the times of day you aren’t as productive, focus on activities like answering emails that don’t require as much bandwidth.
Many times, people are trying to do everything at once. It just doesn’t work. You need to be able to stay focused to be productive at work. By giving yourself certain times to perform certain tasks, you are more likely to remain on task.
Take Breaks
You don’t need to spend each and every hour in front of the computer screen or on the phone. Even when you were in the corporate world, you were at least allowed a lunch break and two 15-minute breaks during the day.
Therefore, you need to give yourself this time also when you work from home. Schedule in breaks—and get up from your desk regularly.
