Make 2019 Your Year to Stick to Resolutions! | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant
It’s the same thing year after year. We make resolutions for the new year, then a few months later, we are back to our old habits.
But not this year—no, ma’am! 2019 is going to be the year that we all stick to our resolutions. Who is with me?
Let’s start making resolutions we can all stick to, starting with:
Exercising More
This seems to be a common resolution for many of us year after year. We all want to do what whatever we can to get healthy in the new year, which begins with exercise.
But while most people begin the year by exercising regularly, we tend to taper away from the habit within a couple months.
There are a couple key steps you can take to make this resolution stick in 2019. First, find a buddy to work out with. When you have an accountability partner, you are more likely to stick to your workout routine. Second, set realistic goals. If you don’t exercise at all currently, don’t suddenly expect to start getting in workouts every day. Start with a day or two and build up.
Then, before you know it, exercise is a habit!
Taking Time for You
We are all guilty of it. We try to be the best at everything in life—from being a mom and wife to our jobs. However, sometimes this can cause us to put ourselves on the back burner.
It is important for us all to remember that you cannot pour from an empty cup. Therefore, schedule time at least once a week for just you.
This can be anything that brings you joy, such as having coffee with a friend, enjoying a good book, taking in a movie or getting a massage.
The only requirement is that it must be something that you enjoy doing and that’s relaxing and non-stressful.
Saving for a Rainy Day
The unexpected seems to happen often in life, usually bringing with it unexpected expenses.
When these situations occur, wouldn’t it be nice if you had the money to cover the costs? Work on building an emergency fund so that you don’t have to stress about finances the next time something needs fixing.
