Preparation Is Key, Especially During the Holidays | Sandi Parkey, Pink Zebra Independent Consultant
It’s beginning to look a lot like…Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and everything in between! Yes, the holiday season has arrived, and chances are so has the stress.
This year, do what you can to prepare for the craziness of the holiday season so that you don’t have to succumb to the normal stress everyone feels around this time of year. It will help to make your holidays a more enjoyable experience!
Enjoy the Best Holiday Season Yet!
There is no denying the holiday season can bring a load of stress, especially during a pandemic. However, with a little (or a lot) of preparation, you can have a holiday season to remember without the stress.
Plan, Plan, Plan!
One of the biggest things you can do to help reduce your stress this holiday season is to have a plan in place! Chaos during the holidays usually arrives when there is a lot going on, and you can’t tell if you are going up, down, left, and right.
Therefore, grab your calendar, and start writing down important events/dates taking place during your holiday season. Be sure you are marking down everything from family arriving for the holidays to your child’s holiday play. You might even want to set reminders, too, for a few days ahead of these holiday events so that you can plan anything ahead of time, such as a sitter for holiday work gathering.
Get Your Holiday Budget in Place
While we want to give as much as we can this holiday season, we need to also make sure we don’t go broke doing so. When your holiday stress also turns into financial stress, it is never a good combination. Therefore, a holiday budget is a necessity this season!
Make sure the holiday budget you create includes not only gifts for loved ones, but also anything else the holiday season might bring, such as decorations, parties, cards, postage, etc.
Make Time for Fun
In the midst of all the holiday events, you want to make sure you plan time for fun with your loved ones. A lot of times we look back on the holiday season feeling as though we missed out on time with our family because of everything else going on.
Planning little things such as a family movie night with a favorite holiday movie, going to a pumpkin patch, or driving around looking at holiday lights with hot chocolate can help you to feel as though your family didn’t get lost in the mix when celebrating the holidays.
