Put Some “Pep” in Your Step This Spring | Sandi Parkey, Pink Zebra Independent Consultant
The gloomy days of winter will soon disappear, as spring begins to show its lovely face! I don’t know about you, but I am so ready for the sunshine, warm weather and everything else that spring brings.
I want you to start putting some “pep” back in your step, too, this spring, especially if you feel you are starting to run on fumes. We can help cheer each other on to start this new spring season.
Hello, Spring
The stark realities of the world around us these days can be overwhelming. That’s why it is especially important to take good care of yourself. Start here:
First, we need to make sure we are getting plenty of sleep each night. With the recent time change, I know my sleep schedule is a little “off.” However, I am working to get back to around eight hours of sleep each night, which is within the seven to nine hours recommended by health experts.
This week, I am working to power down all electronic devices, including my smartphone and TV, at least 30 minutes before going to bed so that I can get my mind to start turning off and prepare for sleep.
Second, I am going to try and move more throughout the day, which actually helps with my sleep, too, as long as I don’t exercise so close to bedtime.
When I wake up in the morning, I am going to try to start with a meditation or yoga session to get the blood flowing and wake up my physical and mental health. Then, during the day, I am going to mix things up. Perhaps I will go for a walk with a friend one day or even try a local hiking spot.
I want to keep things interesting so I don’t get bored. However, no matter what I do, I am going to aim for 30 to 60 minutes a day of physical activity.
Finally, I am going to manage my stress as much as I can by avoiding procrastination as much as possible, eating healthy meals throughout the day, drinking enough water and practicing gratitude.
Before we know it, we will all have some pep in our step for a healthy and happy spring!
