Put Your Best Foot Forward in a New Job | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant

Did a new year call for a start in a new job?

As you get ready to enter the company doors for the first time as their new employee, I want to help you make the most of your new role and start your career off with the company on the right foot!

You’ve Got This

Let’s take a look at some ways you can make the most of your first months at your new job:

First, you want to make sure you are prompt. The last thing you want to do is start running late to work within the first few months of your new job. When you show up to your job on time, you are showing your employer that you are ready to get down to business and make a difference in your job—and for the company.

Second, don’t be afraid to ask questions. How are you going to learn if you don’t ask, right? The more questions you ask, the more likely you are to pick up on things within the company, which will make you feel more mastered in your role! Then, you can move on from those skills you mastered and move forward to a new, greater position within the company down the road.

So, take the initiative and ask the questions! Your new employer will be grateful.

Finally, make sure you are taking notes, especially during those first few weeks at the job. Always keep a pen and paper with you so that you are able to make notes that you can review and better absorb later, especially if a bunch of information is coming at you fast.

Plus, taking notes can help with tip No. 2, as some of the notes might bring about questions you want to ask your employer, which only will help you stay ahead of the game and more successful at your new job.
