Staying Productive When Working from Home

If you’re a brand new consultant on the Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra team, welcome! We are so happy to have you join us on this amazing journey to success. Pink Zebra is an incredibly fun company to work for whether you are a stay at home mom, or a brand new post grad searching to further your career as a consultant! With so many delicious home fragrance products, it’s easy to find people who want their homes smelling great! The most difficult aspect of being a work-from home consultant is finding the balance between productivity and getting distracted. If you’re new to the work from home environment, here are a few tips to staying productive that will help you become successful:

  1. Get ready for the day. Sometimes if you always work from your bed or in your pajamas, it’s tough to feel like you’ve accomplished something! Although we all need those days (they are definitely okay in moderation) be sure that sometimes you also get ready for the day, put on your make-up and some cute clothes, and sit at a desk. This will not only help you get motivated, but you’ll also feel more focused on the task at hand!

  2. Find a work place and a home place. You don’t always want your home feeling like a place of work! Home is somewhere you want to relax and put your feet up. It may be best if you find a certain “workspace,” such as a home office, the kitchen table, or even just a desk, so that you can reserve the couch or the living room for rest and relaxation only! Finding this divide is important, and will also help you stay productive when you are in “work mode.” When you designate a place in the house to get work done, the rest of the house can still feel like home.

  3. Minimize distractions. It will be easier to stay focused on being a consultant if the television is off, your phone is on silent, and the social media tabs on your laptop are nonexistent! We know that some distractions, like your children, are a priority and can’t necessarily be “silenced.” But by minimizing your technological distractions, you’ll be able to get more work done in the long run. Of course it’s all right to take breaks, in fact, take a nice long lunch break! You deserve it.

  4. Avoid the habit of working late. One of the downfalls of working from home is the fact that you can procrastinate! By not being in an office atmosphere first thing in the morning, it may be tough to get motivated first thing when you wake up. It’s best, however, to avoid working until midnight every single night. Know when to call it a day, and spend time with your family! Setting an alarm earlier in the morning is probably the best way to get things accomplished.

Working from home is a privilege and a blessing! We are so glad you are a part of this team. If you’re not, contact Sandi Parkey to join the Pink Zebra team TODAY and enjoy all of the wonderful things that result from working at home. Have a wonderful week!
