Who Is Ready to Declutter Their Home? | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant

It might only be February, but how cluttered is your home right about now? (Don’t worry, I won’t judge!)

No matter how cluttered your house is or isn’t, there is always room for decluttering. In fact, let’s take the next 30 days to declutter together! Who is with me?

Give Yourself 30 Days to Decluttering Success

When it comes to tackling the clutter inside your home, it is important to be realistic with yourself in how long it is going to actually take to declutter.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was the mess!

The key is to tackle a small project each day—or a room a week if you want to break it up that way. Check out the following tips on how to conquer a room a week in order to better declutter your home within 30 days.

Week 1—Bedrooms

There are different aspects to the bedroom that you are going to want to put on your to-do list for the week, including closets, dressers and other surfaces.

When it comes to tackling the closet, divide up your stuff into categories:

  • Donating
  • Selling
  • Keeping

In addition to the closets, you will be tackling the toys in your children’s bedrooms during this week. It is time to remove the toys they have outgrown, while organizing the toys they still play with on a regular basis.

Week 2—Living Room

One of the main communal areas of the home is the living room. It is the room where everyone comes to hang out. As a result, it is also the room where many unnecessary items live.

Therefore, let’s focus this week on cleaning up the entertainment center and rehome any items that came from other areas of the home.

Week 3—Kitchen

The kitchen tends to be the room where everything food-related collects. It’s also where the famous “junk drawer” lives, so it might be the room that needs the most attention during this time.

In order to declutter your kitchen this week, you want to make sure you get your junk drawer under control, clear off countertops, tidy up the sink, and organize your fridge and freezer.

Week 4—Bathrooms

How stressful is your morning routine? Chances are high that the stress is caused by your bathroom not being as organized as it can be. Fortunately, this is the week that all that changes.

During this week, you are going to declutter your toiletries, organize your shower storage, fix up your makeup and other accessories, and declutter under the bathroom sink.
