Plan Ahead: Survive Summer Break | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant

At Pink Zebra, we completely understand that two of the most feared words in any parent’s vocabulary are “school’s out!” But before you start to lose your mind, here are some tips on how to get ahead and prepare for summer break before the kids are out of school for good this spring!

Tackle Summer With These Kid-friendly Tips

Take a deep breath. It’s not the end of the world—only summer break. OK, who are we kidding? Summer break is the end of the world. LOL. Fortunately, there are ways we can work together to help tackle summer break, so that you and your kids end up happy.

First, create your team. Talk to other moms in your community. Work together to help establish a summer safety net for your children, especially if your work takes you away from the home for hours at a time. You may be able to alternate with other moms to care for the children over the summer so that all moms in the group have a day with the kids, as well as some time for themselves.

In addition, if you find families in the same neighborhood, you can possibly also create some fun family gatherings throughout the summer months, such as neighborhood cookouts, 4th of July barbecues and time at the pool!

You also need to sit down with your children to establish some summer rules, as well as open the lines of communication. While you want them to have a fun summer, it’s also important that you talk with them about the importance of safety for their well-being. Therefore, not everything they ask to do will be a “yes,” and there will be chores to be completed on a daily basis once they’re out of school. A family is a team—and everyone needs to work together to keep the household up and running.

Do you need some extra spending money for the summer? Joining my Pink Zebra team is a great way to earn some additional income this summer while also making sure to spend the majority of your time with your family!
