Turn Your Resolutions Into Actionable Goals | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant

It happens every year. Many of us set resolutions in late December or early January, and get started with a bang in the new year. But after a few weeks, those resolutions start to falter—with as many as 80% of them failing by February!

What’s the key for making resolutions that you can actually stick with? It’s all about transforming your resolutions from lofty goals into goals with actions attached.

Read on as I share some tips:

Write Them Down

One of the first things you want to do when starting your goals is to jot them down. You aren’t just writing down your overall goals—you need to be writing down sub-goals that can help you obtain those goals.

This will allow you to better fit them into your daily and weekly routine.

Keep Track of Your Progress

In addition, you want to make sure you are keeping track of your progress. Identify each sub-goal and celebrate when you’ve completed the action needed to achieve that goal. Doing this—and celebrating those small successes—will help keep you motivated.

As with anything, there are going to be difficult days. Yet, when you are able to see just how far you are coming with your goals, you are more likely to keep pushing forward.

Keep Your Focus on Yourself

Your goals are your goals. Don’t compare your goals or your progress to anyone else! There’s a reason why the saying goes, “Comparison is the thief of joy.”

Keep a clear mind and know that no matter how quickly you’re moving, the fact that you’re moving is a success in and of itself. That’s what matters.
